Okay…so more about the pain of squatting. Since this could very well be the downfall of this competition for me…..I have been obsessed for the last three days. How am I going to fix my squat?? Of course, the only answer is to work on it. I think the problem is that I’ve never really worked my squat like that…going so far down that my quads and my hip flexors are SCREAMING.
Remember when you were a kid?
This position came so naturally. Try doing it now…seriously, get off your ass and try it. It sucks. Okay and to the one person out there who thinks it’s a breeze (I’m sure you have your leg wrapped around your head as you’re reading this) don’t even tell me about it. I don’t want to hear it because it sucks for me. You’d think that since I’m only about two feet off the ground that getting back down there wouldn’t be so hard….wrong.
And I really haven’t had bad squat form….really. I mean, I know this lady looks bad ass in her leotard and skinny belt (not exactly what lifting belts look like).
I am well aware of the fact that is is not a great squat.
So…..I need to get in touch with my inner child….or inner carmen electra (she’s really flexible). And here’s how….
A lot of squatting without weight and just going as low as I possibly can. It’s not fun and it looks absolutely ridiculous. I’m excited. At the end of all of this, I need to look like this guy.
With the crease of my hip clearly below my knees. Oh the agony. I did 4×5 with 115 pounds today and it was tough. Yeah, that’s not going to hold up well in competition. I’ll get there, four weeks left ; )
