So the last two days my workouts have been more bearable. But they’ve been rushed. Yesterday I had to work late for a science fair at a local elementary school that was from 5:30 to 7:30. Since I couldn’t work out after work, I ended up taking a few hours off during the day so that I could fit it all in. And today was more of the same. Since I’m trying to do all my workouts at IST, I have to work with that schedule. So I went down at 7:45 this morning and did an hour work out. Then this afternoon I’m going to meet with my trainer at 3:00. She’s managed to arrange for the one of the competition organizers to meet us that the gym where the event will take place. He’s going to watch some of my lifts to make sure that my form is legal. I’m pretty excited about this. I just don’t want to see all this hard work get washed down the drain because of a glitch in my form. That would be way too depressing. I did manage to find a couple of YouTube links of people lifting at last year’s competition. It didn’t look like anything I’m not already doing….but this will just confirm that. Here are the links, if you’re interested ; )
So for Thursdays workout I did the usual ab circuit, and then a hang complex for a warm up- RDL shrug, Upright Row, Muscle Up, Front Squat. 3 reps each for 3 sets at 55#.
Next were deadlifts 5 sets of 2 at 205 pounds. I was supposed to do 200, but I just can’t bring myself to use 2.5 pound plates on a leg workout. I can’t.
Then I did some auxiliary stuff. A circuit of close grip bench at 100 pounds, good mornings at 65 pounds, and dumb bell rows at 25 pounds.
Followed by my very favorite….push ups on a medicine ball. Those seriously never get easier.
And lastly 4×10 bicep curls at 20 pounds and 3×10 tricep extensions at 15 pounds.
Then it was back to work for the science fair. That was a bit of a mad dash. Then I had to turn around and do it all over again 10 hours later for today’s morning workout. I’ll admit, my abs were protesting a bit when I first started. Luckily, I did a shortened workout since I’ll be lifting heavy this afternoon for the organizer/power lifter guy.
So I quickly cranked out 5×3 of squats at 115 and 3×4 of deadlifts at 185. Then I did a circuit of single arm bench press at 20 pounds and rear delt flies at 10 pounds- 10 reps each for three sets. And of course, some more abs at the end to top it all off.
Now I get six hours of rest before I’m back in the gym for a little more punishment.
