So I have mixed reviews of my workout last night. I went in to do a meet practice…kind of. Just going through all my lifts and figuring out what my maxes were- where I’m looking to end up on Saturday. I did okay on my squats and got 185 just fine. Then I benched. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get the 135 that I got last weekend. That was concerning. I felt like I got it so easily on Saturday, so I’m not sure why I struggled so much on Monday.
Then it was on to dead lifting. This has slipped back into my least favorite lift. Not sure why, I just dread it sometimes. I knew I needed to knock out a couple of good reps though. It stared off with my trainer asking me if I wanted to warm up with 95 pounds. Um, what? I think she was a bit out of it due to it being finals week and all ; ) I warmed up at 135 and then bumped up and did 2 reps at 225. Then I did 1 at 245. Kati asked if I wanted to try 250 (which I had tried before and failed) or if I wanted to just do 255. I asked her if I could be done if I tried 255 and she agreed…so it was on. 1 rep and I was done. All I had to do was lift 255. I took my time, of course. Maybe sure I was well hydrated and had an adequate amount of chalk on my hands. I spent a few minutes talking to the bar and then gave it a my all. I think it took me a full 60 seconds to lift it that first inch. I’m not kidding that is the most difficult part of the lift. Kati even stopped cheering me on because she thought for sure I was going to set it back down. My I kept inching it up…actually it was more like milimetering it up, but I did it! I got it all the way up. I had a bit of trouble locking it out, but still. I made it and I was happy. It was a good end to the day.
Now I’m off to my last work out. I’m going to run through all the calls and techniques while lifting my opening weights. Should be a blast. The only thing that worrying me is my hamstring is a bit sore after my deadlifting triumph yesterday, but hopefully the next few days of rest will cure that.
