Okay, so I’m starting to get nervous.
I did my last workout last night. It was pretty easy, just 45 minutes long. I went through all my opening weights just like I would in a competition. A little bit of a warm up and then the lifts. I squatted 175, bench 125, and deadlifted 230. They all felt doable and moderately easy which is the whole idea.
We also decided on each of the three weights that I would attempt for each lift. It’s tough to decide because I don’t know how I’m going to feel on the day of the meet, but at least we have some sort of a plan. The idea was to put my current max at the second weight. So I’d do my somewhat easy opening weight. Then go for my current max. And if I get that, then try for a few more pounds and a new PR. We’ll see how it goes. Everything feels tired and sore right now, including my right hamstring. I’m really hoping this is a just a bit or extreme soreness and not a real injury. Crossing my fingers.
Anyway, I have plans all night tonight so I won’t be too anxious. I’ve made it a goal to stretch a lot and do some air squats every night just to make sure I’m staying loose. Tomorrow I’m hoping to catch a movie. Then Friday I have to head up to the meet venue for early registration. They weigh you and take a bunch of measurements so you know how high the rack should be positioned in the bench and squat.
Here we go…..
