So my next challenge will be a bench only competition on the Range at the end of June. It was pitched to me from the beginning as a backyard BBQ sort of meet. Everything is very relaxed and the idea is to give beginners an informal setting to get warmed up to the idea of competing. Maybe I should have tried this one first ; ) Anyway, as I’m training I have to decide what my goals are going to be. As much as I’d like to be benching like this guy….

Either way, I know I’ll be able to do more than I did at my last meet. Yesterday for my bench workout, I moved up to 3 sets of 5 at 125 for the heavy sets. I also did 1 rep at 135 as part of my warm up. I had to do the same thing last week and could hardly get 135 up. This week it was really no problem. So maybe I should take that as a sign? As much as I feel like I’m just being a lazy bum and my entire body is just turning to mush while I sit around…..
Seriously, I feel like a giant marshmallow.
But maybe I’m not. Maybe I’m getting stronger. Different is good….right?
