Yeah, I had a good work out today. They only come along once in a great while so you have to take it when you can get it. It was my deadlifting day, but no heavy weights today since I deadlifted heavy last week. That meant box squats and speed deadlifting with bands. I was really looking forward to the workout because I had an icky day at work dealing with another grant deadline. I have been DRAGGING myself through this one. Complete lack of motivation. It took me two cokes and three brownies just to get through the day…yeah, they were good ; ) I would have eaten one of these if I could have gotten my hands on it….
I bribe myself with sugar whenever I have a writing project that I don’t want to do. Sometimes it works. Terrible habit.
Anyway, back to business. I started with box squats today. Apparently there’s a theory that a person’s box squat should be significantly less than what they normally squat. Well, we determined that that theory does not apply to me today. I did a 3 rep max today and worked all the way up to 160 pounds where I did 2.7 reps (a slight assist on the last one). If you remember, I couldn’t do a regular squat for three reps at 155 pound on monday. What the heck? Completely perplexing! Fortunately, my trainer thinks he’s cracked the case….determined why my squatting is so sporadic. It’s so simple…I don’t know why I didn’t think of it earlier. Apparently I’m a F#ck T@rd. Duh!!!! I want to reach out to everyone else out there who might be suffering from the same condition. We need to stick together. There has to be a support group or something. Right now, I just want to give a huge shout out to my trainer. Who knows how long I would have gone on suffering through this behavior without a proper diagnosis ; ) Silly Ray.
Next up were speed dead lifts with bands. Those weren’t very exciting. I used 135 pounds and did maybe 6 sets of 1 rep. I tried as hard as I could do go fast while Ray sat and heckled me to go FASTER! The great part was that he decided that the best place to sit was on top of my workout notebook. When I finished my set I went over to grab the notebook and record my weights…only to find a big, sweaty, ass print on it! Yeah….
