I woke up this morning feeling like I had pulled one of these in my sleep….
Yep, that’s gonna hurt.
I’m not sure if I slept wrong or if I strained something when I was benching last night. But it’s pretty horrible. After my Thursday morning 6:45 am meeting (yes, every week at 6:45 am, I know it’s insane) I was about ready to throw in the towel. Every time I turned my head I wanted to hurl. I managed to get in to see a chiropractor right afterwards, but that didn’t exactly provide the relief that I was looking for. He spent a good 30 minutes making me feel like I had a small rodent hibernating in between my shoulder blades. Then he flipped me over to work on my neck which landed me dangerously close to growing an actual horn out of my forehead.
I’m just sayin’….it’s possible.
I’m not sure if this neck issue had anything to do with lifting, but I’m hoping it didn’t. I had a decent bench day yesterday. I worked on speeding up my lift a little bit. I go incredibly slow on the way down and it makes it a lot harder to get the weight back up. I did three sets of 1 rep at my opening bench weight with a pause. By the third rep, I had finally gotten a handle on my form so that the weight was fairly easy. Then I did some pause squats with lighter weight and some shrugs (maybe the shrugs ganked my neck?). All in all, a good, easy work out.
Thankfully, I have today off so I don’t have to hobble around the gym this afternoon.
