This guy has probably done a few sets in his day….at least I hope it’s a guy 😉
So I’ve now officially finished my third day of 5 sets of 20 (only 2 more weeks to go). I made a serious strategical error last week though. I mentioned that I got through my sets with a lot less trouble the second time around. As a result, my previously scheduled 5 pound per workout increase was bumped up to a 15 pound increase. So I squatted 100 reps at 115 pounds yesterday. It burned, and I was ridiculously out of breath, but at least I wasn’t cursing and protesting the entire time. However, I made sure to struggle just enough so that I wouldn’t be punished with another big jump for Thursday’s workout. Yay! I also benched yesterday. For some reason, I struggled a bit more with my bench. It was a breeze last Thursday, but yesterday it felt like I was trying to push 200 pounds. I’ve also discovered that I develop some serious bobble-headedness when the lifts get hard. What’s up with that? I now need to add keeping my head straight to my list of form corrections.
I heard so many Arnold impressions this weekend…I had to work him in some where.
I was somewhat nervous about being sore today since I added so much more weight, but I feel good. My shoulders are aching a bit from benching, but that’s it. Today I go back for another round of super sets…pull ups, rows, shoulder presses, dips, curls, shrugs, oh my! For as easy as squatting was the second time last week, the super sets were super hard! Maybe because they are smaller muscle groups? Ugh. It was brutal.
One final note, I found this picture last week. A woman squatting at 30 weeks pregnant- 95 pounds with chains! She’s totally cranking it out. I hope I’m that strong if I’m ever lucky enough to be 30 weeks preggers!!
