Wooohooo. Another lift down. That’s one step closer to the meet. It was front squats, bench and deadlifts today. I guess the theory is, since I’m so close to the meet, to work all three lifts in some capacity every day. So that left me doing lighter front squats. It’s fantastic that light front squats are 115 pounds when 115 used to make me want to puke. Then it was on to benching. It’s all about pausing these days. So I did a bunch of warm up reps and then did 2 sets of 1 at 135 and then one rep at 145. The crazy part is that the rep at 145 was a lot easier than both reps at 135. Yeah, that makes no sense, but I’m absolutely fine with it. In fact, I hope that trend continues!! Then I did some benching with bands. Contraptions just seem awkward to me. I’d rather just do bench reps, but whatev. I’m sure it’s good for me on some level. Then last I had speed deadlifts. I will forever suck at these. I tried my hardest…working to summon anger and violence from the depths of my soul to inspire a super fast deadlift. No luck. I never really thought of myself as an overly cheery person, but I dig down deep and all I find are giggles and dirty jokes. Who knew? Unfortunately, neither of those things are particularly helpful in powerlifting.
And since I’m in a mood for sharing lately, I found another clip for you. This is amazing and absolutely disgusting all at once. Just watch…you’ll see.
